Gold Mining Camp and Adventures

Mining is defined as the extraction of valuable minerals from the earth. It is required to obtain material that cannot be grown through agricultural processes or created artificially in a factory or a laboratory. In a wider sense mining is the extraction of resources that cannot ever be replaced like petroleum, natural gas and even water. In prehistoric times, flint was mined in France and England. Mining of stone and metal was also done in this prehistoric time. In Ancient Egypt malachite was mine for ornamentation and pottery. In the 19th Century, there was a Gold Rush in California. Then in 1850s, there was a Gold Rush in Australia producing 40% of the world’s gold and was followed by the establishment of large mines such as the Mount Morgan Mine which lasted for almost a hundred years. Today, mining is globalized and the finding of rare earth minerals has increased in demand as a result of new technology. At Roaring Camp Mining Co., there is a gold mining camp on the Mokelumne River. In this camp a lot of gold mining adventures are in store for guests who go and visit the camp. We know that a camp provides outdoor recreational activities. Because the area is rich in nature, rich in history and rich in gold, many of the activities stem from the richness of the place. For example, the beautiful river whose water is so clear, allows the guest to watch tadpoles and fish swim. One good activity here would be fishing.  Then there is a quiet and secluded place termed as the “swimming hole” where the guests can go swimming. There are rocks of varying sizes alongside this “swimming hole” which allow the guests to go diving (for those who dare). There are miles of river to explore, to fish in, and to swim in. They may even go diving. The best gold mining adventure I would say is to actually go mining in the Mother Lode! With such a beautiful sight, guests are also allowed to picnic in the area. There are cabins and tents that could be rented to house these guests. The area is so big, that visitors may go hiking where the 49ers once settled. There is even an area where guest can actually go mining. They can even pan gold or obtain gold by sluicing. Camping and other fun adventure activities may be done in this gold mining camp in the Mokelumne River.
